The vast majority of our guests travel by ferry to Brittany, usually with Brittany Ferries via the entry ports of Roscoff, St.Malo, Cherbourg or Caen. This enables them to enjoy an independent, relaxing self-drive holiday in France in a familiar vehicle with the opportunity to visit many of the local beaches, towns and attractions.

Driving in France is generally easy as the roads are well maintained and the towns are well sign-posted. Remember to have your driving licence and car insurance certificate with you at all times. There are a few essential items that you need to carry with you whilst driving in France to ensure that you are legal and will avoid any on the-spot-fines. These include:

– Spare bulb kit and headlight adapters
– Reflective safety jacket / vest and warning triangle
– Breathalysers (Twin pack)

These items can be bought on-line, for example ‘The AA Shop‘ or onboard most ships if you are travelling with Brittany Ferries.

To travel to our mobile homes in Brittany, be sure that you have enough fuel for your onward journey in France; many garages are closed on Sundays and don’t always take UK cards at the pump. There is a petrol station in Benodet at the Carrefour supermarket within 400 metres of the Yelloh Village Camping du Port de Plaisance resort.

Your UK car insurance should give you third party cover whilst driving in France. We would highly recommend contacting your provider and ensuring that you have adequate cover for your time abroad.

We advise that you make sure that you have the necessary items to ensure that your mobile home holiday in France goes as smoothly as possible. Happy packing!
